We were strolling around the gracia district in Barcelona hungry and unsure where to grab lunch on a lazy Saturday afternoon. When we entered a little unnoticed street market we ran into a pretty chic crowd waiting to get one of the few seats in the corner of a family owned fish stall. After doing another round between the fruit stands we decided to give it a try and luckily two people left not without tellings us we wouldn't regret opting for John Boy.
While the family members sell fresh, raw fish and sea food, the father of the family does the grilling in front of the guests on a small griddle. And even though we watched him for over an hour grilling sea food taken right from the family's stall we still couldn't reveal his secret. Or maybe it's just that easy: super fresh fish and sea food (caught in the early morning hours), high quality olive oil and sea salt. That's it. You get the best fish your gourmet heart could long for.
We went for Norwegian lobster, tuna on walnut vinegar, a mixed green salad and dry white wine and paid altogether under 40 EUR.
I knew I'd have to come back to Barcelona if only because of John Boy and their perfect fish.
